When to visit which Malaysian state

Malaysia has 13 states split across Peninsular, Sabah, Sarawak, with three different monsoon regimes. Saying 'May is the best month' is meaningless unless you know if you're going to Perak, Terengganu, Sabah or Sarawak. Pick a state and a month and get a real verdict.

No. East coast monsoon (Nov-Mar) makes boats and islands inaccessible (Tioman, Perhentian, Redang). But KL, Penang and Sarawak Kuching are still fine - they have their own patterns.

Both are huge. Travel within Malaysia spikes; hotels in popular destinations fill. But if you're flying in, KL/Penang/etc. become tourist destination zones with good availability.
